Hi, my name is Jessica. I am an (American) expat sometimes thriving and sometimes just surviving in Skopje, Macedonia. I moved to Skopje about a year ago, after I married my hunky Macedonian husband. I’m a lucky girl. I don’t mean to brag, but my husband is pretty cool. Maybe he gets it from his mom, because my mother-in-law, she’s pretty cool too! (More about her later.) I am also learning to love my new city. It’s definitely different from my old city (Seattle) and I had to dig a little in the beginning to find its charm…but I am finding a lot of quirky things to love about Skopje!
I love to cook. I love to bake. I love going to the market. I love Macedonian food–it’s good. Really good. I miss Asian food. Generic, but true–I miss all of it. Pho. Sushi. Thai. Teriyaki. I also miss salmon. And Chai Tea. And salsa (I have been known to beg my husband to search the city for fresh cilantro).
I love visitors and showing people my new home. On this Macedonian cooking blog you’ll find a lot of recipes (Macedonian and otherwise). A lot about living in Macedonia. And a little about Skopje.
